Earth Share of Washington
Washington Citizens for Resource Conservation is a member of

Earth Share of Washington
, an alliance of 70 leading conservation
and environmental organizations.
By partnering with businesses and government agencies, Earth Share
of Washington inspires employees to support the environment through workplace giving campaigns and volunteerism. Visit www.esw.org to find out more.

Workplace giving is a means by which employees donate to charitable organizations of their choice, primarily through payroll pledges.  Donations through payroll pledges enable Washington Citizens for Resource Conservation to spend less time fundraising and more time working toward a healthier environment.

How to Give at Your Workplace:

  • Corporate workplaces:  If you work for one of many corporations that include Earth Share of Washington in your workplace giving campaign, find Earth Share of Washington on your payroll pledge form and write in Washington Citizens for Resource Conservation as a specific designation.

  • United Way Campaigns: If Washington Citizens for Resource Conservation is not listed by your employer in your workplace giving campaign, you can designate Washington Citizens for Resource Conservation in the "Specific Organization" or "donor option" section of your United Way pledge form. Ask your campaign coordinator how to do this if it is not clear.

  • Government workplaces: If you work for one of the many government agencies in our area such as the State of Washington, state universities, the federal government, City of Seattle, King County, as well as many other counties and cities, you can find Washington Citizens for Resource Conservation listed in the campaign catalog.  Once you have found us, write our code number on your payroll pledge form.  If your agency has no catalog, ask your campaign coordinator how you may designate your gift to Washington Citizens for Resource Conservation.

Here are 2 ways you can give to Washington Citizens for Resource Conservation through your workplace giving campaign:

  • Payroll Deduction – by far the most popular and easiest way to support Washington Citizens for Resource Conservation year-round, you instruct your employer to deduct a certain amount from your paycheck each pay period.

  • One-time payroll deduction – you instruct your employer to deduct a single amount from one paycheck, or simply write a personal check to Washington Citizens for Resource Conservation and present it to your workplace giving campaign manager.

Eco Encore   WCRC is one of Eco Encore's  featured recipient organizations.

Through the collection, sale and distribution of used media, Eco Encore literally turns unwanted goods into financial contributions that support a range of local environmental nonprofits. Donations of used media (books, CDs, DVDs and videos) from individuals are sold online at Amazon and Half.com. Proceeds from the sales are then distributed to an environmental organization selected by the donor. Please go to Eco Encore's website to learn more about the innovative programs and to make arrangements to donate your used media to WCRC (or print out the Eco Encore Brochure). It really works!

   Basel Action Network

BAN, headquartered in Seattle, is a global network of toxics and development activist organizations that share a vision of international environmental justice. BAN seeks to prevent all forms of "toxic trade"--in toxic wastes, toxic products and toxic technologies.
WCRC and BAN are the Washington state nonprofit organization participants in the national Computer TakeBack Campaign and often work closely on outreach and education  related to toxic electronic waste. WCRC is also a strong supporter of BAN's
Electronics Recycler's Pledge of True Stewardship.

Product Stewardship/Producer Responsibility

Computer TakeBack Campaign

National Electronics Product Stewardship Initiative   NEPSI was formed in 2001 and has held six meetings to date. It is a voluntary, national effort involving 45 representatives from all levels of government, electronic manufacturers, environmental groups, recyclers, and retailers. The focus is on televisions and computer monitors (cathode ray tubes), CPUs, and computer peripherals. The goal of NEPSI is to develop a national collection and recycling infrastructure for electronics. This will require cooperation among stakeholders to improve the infrastructure for collection, reuse and recycling, to develop markets for remanufactured products and recycled materials, to remove regulatory barriers for collection and reuse and recycling, and to ensure that product designs facilitate reuse and recycling in the future.

Northwest Product Stewardship Council

NWPSC is a group of government agencies, non-profit organizations and businesses located in the Pacific Northwest. NWPSC's goals are to: provide networking opportunities and information sharing; research programs and policies; organize educational events; demonstrate pilot programs that promote product stewardship; coordinate projects and partners; and train through technical assistance and outreach.

Product Stewardship Institute  Located in Massachusetts, PSI assists state and local government agencies in establishing cooperative agreements with industry and developing other initiatives that reduce the health and environmental impacts from consumer products. The Institute seeks active input from, and cooperates with, environmental groups, business interests, academic institutions, the federal government, and related organizations to achieve product stewardship goals.
